I was thinking back to being a student in Madrid and wondering what it would be like today if I were studying at IE University.
A Day in the Life: University Student in Madrid
Starting my morning at the IE Tower—180 meters of innovation in Madrid’s financial district—where AI-enhanced classrooms and 130+ nationalities create an unmatched learning environment. After my morning lectures wrap up, the real Madrid education begins.
🎨 Cultural Immersion
Post-class, I often head to the Reina Sofía Museum to see Picasso’s Guernica (free on weekday evenings!) or discover hidden gems like the Sorolla Museum—a painter’s former home with stunning Andalusian gardens. The lesser-known Andén 0, a preserved 1960s metro station, offers a fascinating glimpse into Madrid’s history.
🌳 Beyond the Tourist Trail
While everyone knows Retiro Park, I’ve fallen in love with Parque del Capricho—Madrid’s best-kept secret with 18th-century romantic gardens and a Civil War bunker. Sunset at Templo de Debod, an authentic Egyptian temple, provides the perfect study break with panoramic city views.
☕ Where Work Happens
Between assignments, you’ll find me at Lolina Vintage Café or La Bicicleta in Chueca—laptop-friendly spaces where international students collaborate over excellent coffee.
🍽️ Madrid’s Living Classroom
The real business lessons happen over tapas in Malasaña or exploring Matadero Madrid—a former slaughterhouse turned contemporary arts center where creativity and entrepreneurship collide. Sunday mornings at El Rastro flea market teach negotiation skills no textbook can match.
The IE Difference: It’s not just about what happens in their cutting-edge classrooms—it’s about being immersed in a city where every street corner offers a lesson in culture, history, and innovation. With 100+ student clubs and over 1,500 annual events, the education extends far beyond the Tower.
Living and learning in Madrid isn’t just studying abroad—it’s developing a global mindset in one of Europe’s most dynamic capitals.
